Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Shanghai Automotive Group (Beijing) Co., Ltd. ("SAIC Beijing") has entered into a strategic partnership with robotics startup LimX Dynamics to jointly explore the application of embodied intelligence across the automotive value chain, according to a press release issued on July 23 via its WeChat account.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing, committing to a long-term collaboration that includes the establishment of a co-branded R&D lab focused on cutting-edge embodied robotics.

The joint lab will serve as a platform for developing core technologies tailored to automotive scenarios, including algorithm design, system architecture, and deployment toolchains for embodied robotics. The goal is to accelerate innovation across automotive manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain operations by leveraging next-generation robot intelligence.

LimX Dynamics brings to the partnership its expertise in general-purpose embodied intelligence technologies, providing a suite of foundational software and hardware components. These include advanced robotic platforms, whole-body motion control algorithms, Vision Language Action) (VLA) model frameworks, and integrated data engines and toolchains. By integrating these technologies, SAIC Beijing aims to build its own capabilities in embodied system development, from data collection and model training to system-level testing and iteration.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor, SAIC Beijing offers deep experience in large-scale automotive systems integration and engineering implementation. This collaboration will blend LimX Dynamics' deep-tech foundation with SAIC Beijing's operational scale, with the ambition of generating real-world use cases and demonstrator projects that illustrate how embodied intelligence can deliver value across the automotive supply chain.

The partnership also includes a talent development track, with both sides committed to cultivating a new generation of professionals equipped to drive the convergence of robotics and automotive technologies.

In a parallel move, LimX Dynamics has also reached a cooperation framework with Shanghai Robot Industrial Technology Research Institute, which operates under China's National Robot Testing and Evaluation Center (Headquarters). The two parties plan to collaborate on standardized testing, quality assurance protocols, and shared datasets to support the broader commercialization of embodied AI solutions.

Together, these collaborations signal a growing momentum in China's effort to fuse artificial intelligence with physical robotics in industrial settings. For SAIC Beijing and LimX Dynamics, the joint lab is just the beginning of a wider ambition: to establish a replicable and scalable model for applying embodied intelligence throughout the auto industry, setting a new benchmark for human-machine collaboration in the era of intelligent manufacturing.
