Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 24, GAC Group's flying car brand GOVY marked a key milestone in its urban air mobility strategy with the official handover of its first AirCab prototype in Hong Kong, according to a post on GAC Group's WeChat account.

The delivery ceremony, held in collaboration with the Hong Kong Productivity Council ("HKPC"), signals a significant step toward the commercialization of low-altitude transportation technologies in the region.

The GOVY AirCab is the third multicopter flying vehicle developed under the GOVY brand and is purpose-built for short-range urban travel. With a flight range of 20 to 30 kilometers, the AirCab is envisioned for scenarios such as sightseeing tours and business commutes, offering a fresh alternative to ground-based transportation. Over 90% of the aircraft's body is constructed from carbon fiber composites, ensuring a lightweight yet durable frame that improves flight performance and energy efficiency.

Safety remains central to the GOVY AirCab's design. The model incorporates multiple redundant systems across critical components, including propulsion, power supply, flight control, and communications. To support commercial viability, the vehicle also features a rapid-charging capability—recharging in just 25 minutes—and is equipped with intelligent obstacle avoidance technology to navigate safely through complex low-altitude environments.

As an innovation venture backed by GAC Group, GOVY has been focused on developing flying vehicles and building out the supporting ecosystem for low-altitude mobility. The delivery of the GOVY AirCab prototype demonstrates not only GOVY's engineering progress but also its growing readiness for scaled production. The model is now undergoing airworthiness certification and is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2026.

Beyond the GOVY AirCab, GOVY is pursuing a two-pronged product strategy that spans both urban and intercity applications. Its portfolio includes the distributed-propulsion AirCar and the fixed-wing hybrid AirJet—designed to expand the scope of low-altitude transportation and unlock new routes between cities, thereby enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration.

Hong Kong's strategic location and advanced infrastructure position it as a promising launchpad for low-altitude travel. The partnership between GOVY and the HKPC is expected to accelerate the deployment of air mobility technologies across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and serve as a blueprint for global adoption.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
