Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Leapmotor has launched its latest all-electric sedan, the B01, marking a strategic push to appeal to younger consumers seeking high-tech features at an accessible price. The vehicle hit the market on July 24 with six trim levels priced between 89,800 yuan and 119,800 yuan, and offers three CLTC-rated range options: 430 km, 550 km, and 650 km.

Positioned as a "high-quality smart sedan for young people," the Leapmotor B01 combines sleek styling with aerodynamic efficiency. Its streamlined profile achieves a low drag coefficient of just 0.197Cd. The front fascia features a full-width LED light strip paired with split headlights, while a clean, closed-off grille and rectangular lighting elements emphasize a futuristic design. Subtle coupe-like contours, hidden door handles, and a gently sloping roofline balance aesthetics with functionality, helping to maximize rear headroom.

With a 2,735 mm wheelbase and a cabin space efficiency rate of 86%, the Leapmotor B01 delivers spaciousness typically associated with larger vehicles.

At the rear, a subtle ducktail spoiler and smoked-through tail light assembly lend the sedan a sportier edge. Buyers can choose from eight exterior paint colors, including the eye-catching "Morgan Pink," developed in collaboration with Pantone.

Inside, the cabin adopts a minimalist, geometric aesthetic, blending soft-touch surfaces with piano black accents and matte metal trims. Dual-tone interior themes, such as Moonlight Purple and Cloud Grey, add contrast and depth, complemented by a flat-bottom steering wheel that underscores the car's youthful appeal.

At the heart of the cockpit is a 14.6-inch 2.5K central display powered by Qualcomm's 8295 chipset. The interface runs Leapmotor OS 4.0, offering features such as an animated 3D desktop, seamless menu transitions, split-screen capability, and advanced voice recognition powered by DeepSeek and Alibaba's Qwen large language models. This AI assistant understands complex commands, supports dialect recognition, enables 60-second continuous interactions, and can even generate images from voice prompts. A "Zero-Motion Space" customization suite allows users to create personalized in-car scenes using over 200 configurable features.

Select trims come equipped with a more advanced driving assistance system branded as Leapmotor Pilot. These variants integrate a Qualcomm 8650 chip and a LiDAR sensor, supporting functions like highway and urban navigation assistance as well as memory-based parking. The self-developed HPA (Home Parking Assist) feature lets the vehicle learn parking routes of up to 1 km and enables remote parking via a smartphone app. A 360-degree panoramic camera system and transparent chassis view are standard across the lineup, with Sentry Mode to be added later to lower trims via OTA updates.

Under the hood, the Leapmotor B01 is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 160 kW, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 6.4 seconds. It features Leapmotor's seven-in-one oil-cooled electric drive unit, while the chassis has been co-developed with Stellantis to optimize ride and handling. The suspension setup includes front MacPherson struts and a rear five-link independent design, enhanced by the company's CTC 2.0 Plus integrated battery-chassis architecture for improved structural rigidity and performance.

Energy efficiency is another focal point. The Leapmotor B01 boasts a low energy consumption rate of 11.4 kWh per 100 km, and can recharge from 30% to 80% state-of-charge in as little as 18 minutes. A 27-in-1 integrated thermal management system and wide-temperature heat pump climate control further improve efficiency in diverse environments.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
