Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The 2025 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2025) opened in Jakarta on July 23 with BYD making a high-profile appearance alongside its premium sub-brand DENZA. The event offered a sweeping look at BYD's expanding electric vehicle strategy in Southeast Asia and marked several brand milestones in the Indonesian market.

For the first time, DENZA took the stage at GIIAS, spotlighting its growing global ambitions as BYD's new energy luxury brand. The brand showcased its flagship MPV, the DENZA D9, already available in Indonesia, as well as the Z9 GT—a performance sedan that blends sculpted aesthetics with advanced technology.

Adding further momentum to its local expansion, BYD also officially launched the BYD ATTO 1, its compact all-electric hatchback, in the Indonesian market. The vehicle has already generated strong consumer interest ahead of its launch, thanks to its affordability, energy efficiency, and urban-friendly design. As Indonesian cities undergo rapid modernization, demand is rising for smaller, more sustainable vehicles—an area where the BYD ATTO 1 is well-positioned to thrive. With its clean lines, smart features, and daily usability, BYD expects the model to resonate with a wide range of city drivers.

Another major highlight of BYD's GIIAS presence was the Indonesian debut of the U9, a high-performance pure-electric supercar under its luxury car brand, YANGWANG.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
