he MIIT launched the application for the ninth batch of lithium battery industry standardization and the supervision work of announced enterprises. The 2024 version of the new regulations sets clear indicators for three types of batteries. The new regulations specify that for energy storage batteries, the energy density of the battery cell should be ≥155Wh/kg (system ≥110Wh/kg) and the cycle life should be ≥6000 times (capacity ≥80%). For small power batteries, the battery cell should be ≥140Wh/kg (system ≥110Wh/kg) and the cycle life should be ≥1000 times (capacity ≥70%). Regarding large power batteries, they are divided into energy type (ternary battery cell ≥230Wh/kg, lithium iron phosphate ≥165Wh/kg) and power type (battery cell ≥1500W/kg), both of which require a cycle life of ≥1500 times (capacity ≥80%). The regulations cover enterprises involved in battery cells, battery packs, and the four key materials, promoting high-quality development of the industry.
