2GWh Energy Storage Manufacturing Hub! Guangdong Zero-Carbon Smart Industrial Park Set for 2027 Operation

Published: Jul 25, 2025 17:47

The Guangdong New Energy Recycling Industrial Park's Guangzhou headquarters project officially broke ground in Huadu District on July 21, with operations scheduled to commence by June 2027. Upon completion, it will supply over 40% of the Greater Bay Area's recycled materials for power batteries.

As a key 2025 provincial-level priority project and critical component of Guangdong's new energy industrial chain, the park spans 60 acres (approx. 4 hectares) with a total floor area of 131,000 square meters. The first-phase investment of 750 million RMB (≈$103 million) will develop a 2GWh advanced energy storage manufacturing center, aim to have annual processing capacity for 60,000 tons of power batteries and 20,000 tons of photovoltaic panels, and a carbon neutrality research institute. All facilities will comply with China's national zero-carbon industrial park standards.

Guangzhou Institute of Technology's Vice President announced collaboration with enterprises to cultivate specialized talent and pioneer zero-carbon technologies. The Guangdong Enterprise Confederation emphasized this project represents a major breakthrough in renewable energy circular economy, aiming to set industry benchmarks.
