Official data shows that despite the global downturn in lithium prices, Zimbabwe's spodumene concentrates exports reached 586,000 mt in H1 2025, up 30% YoY. As Africa's largest lithium producer, the country's main export market is China, with Chinese companies such as Huayou Cobalt and Sinomine Resource Group having invested over $1.4 billion in developing local lithium ore resources. Zimbabwe Minerals Marketing Corporation pointed out that although current lithium prices have plunged nearly 90% compared to two years ago, prices are expected to rebound in the medium term amid the global transition to clean energy.
