Rio Tinto achieved record bauxite production in Q2 this year. The UK-based company stated that Rio Tinto produced 15,644 kt of bauxite in Q2, representing a 6% increase from Q1. As a result, Rio Tinto expects bauxite production to be at the higher end of its full-year production guidance range. Secondary aluminum production also increased to 74 kt, up 11% from Q1. On the other hand, bauxite ore production decreased by 6% from Q1, partly due to equipment shutdowns and maintenance at the Yarwun refinery in Queensland, Australia.
