According to a recent report released by the China-Brazil Business Council, Brazil's exports of rare earths to China saw a significant increase in the first half (H1) of this year, with exports doubling compared to the previous period. Correspondingly, China's imports of rare earths also climbed to a new historical high. Specifically, the export value of Brazil's rare earths to China rose to $6.7 million, reflecting a threefold increase compared to the same period in H1 2024. Although this figure is not yet substantial in overall scale, analysts have stated that it marks China's active pursuit of a diversification strategy in acquiring strategic minerals. Additionally, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) also reported that Brazil has abundant rare earth reserves, reaching approximately 21 million mt, second only to China and far exceeding India (approximately 6.9 million mt) and more than 10 times that of the US, further highlighting Brazil's important position in the global rare earth supply.
