On the morning of July 22nd, two fall-of-ground incidents occurred at the access way to an underground work area at the non-producing Red Chris project in British Columbia, Canada.

At the time of the initial event, three contractor employees were working over 500 meters away from the impacted zone and were directed to relocate to a designated refuge station. Communication was established following the first incident, confirming they had safely reached a self-contained refuge bay equipped with sufficient food, water, and ventilation for an extended stay.

A second collapse later blocked the access and disrupted communications. As a result, all operations at Red Chris have been temporarily suspended. Newmont is working with nearby mine sites to mobilize specialized response teams and is actively exploring all available technologies to re-establish contact and ensure a safe rescue.

The safety of the three individuals and the emergency response personnel remains Newmont’s top priority. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
