According to CCTV International News, on local time today (July 23), Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated at a live press conference that Japan and the US had reached an agreement on the US imposing a 15% tariff on Japan. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation with the US supply chain and safeguard economic security through investments by Japanese companies in areas such as semiconductors, steel, shipbuilding, energy, and automobiles. Ishiba indicated that under Japan's current "minimum access system" for rice, the proportion of rice imported from the US would be increased. This move would not come at the expense of Japanese agriculture. On local time July 22, US President Donald Trump posted on social media that a trade agreement had been reached with Japan, under which the US would impose a 15% tariff on Japan, Japan would invest $550 billion in the US, and open its automobile, rice, and other markets to the US.
