Shenergy Group Co., Ltd., a Chinese energy enterprise, and a Japanese automotive company recently officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. As a key technology in the construction of a new-type power system, battery energy storage has a wide range of applications in the energy sector. Shenergy Group has extensive operational experience and mature cases in energy storage on the power supply side, power grid side, and user side. This cooperation will focus on exploring the second-life application of Toyota's on-board nickel–metal hydride batteries in the ESS sector, particularly in power frequency regulation. This cooperation is an important initiative for both parties to practice the concept of green development and deepen international business cooperation, which will achieve resource sharing and complementary advantages, and promote the open development of a green energy system.
Japanese automotive companies have nearly 30 years of experience in applying nickel–metal hydride batteries in the hybrid vehicle sector. Through this cooperation, the Japanese automotive company hopes to share its experience in nickel–metal hydride batteries and energy storage technology with Shenergy Group, jointly promoting the application and development of on-board nickel–metal hydride batteries in electricity energy storage systems.
