MIIT: 5G users increased by 100 million in H1

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released data showing that in H1, the cumulative revenue from the telecommunications business reached 905.5 billion yuan, up 1% YoY. The total volume of telecommunications business, calculated at constant prices from the previous year, increased by 9.3% YoY. By the end of June, the total number of mobile phone users across the three basic telecommunications enterprises and China Broadcasting Network amounted to 1.81 billion, a net increase of 19.93 million users from the end of the previous year. Among them, the number of 5G mobile phone users reached 1.118 billion, a net increase of 104 million users from the end of the previous year, accounting for 61.8% of all mobile phone users. By the end of June, the total number of 5G base stations reached 4.549 million, a net increase of 298,000 from the end of the previous year, accounting for 35.7% of the total number of mobile base stations, with the proportion increasing by 1.3 percentage points compared to Q1.
