SMM July 22 News:
According to the latest customs data, in terms of galvanized sheet, China's galvanized sheet exports in June 2025 reached 1.1312 million mt, with cumulative exports from January to June 2025 totaling 6.9232 million mt, representing a 12.23% YoY increase compared to the 6.1687 million mt exported in the same period of 2024. Overall, domestic galvanized sheet exports in June remained basically flat compared to May.
By country, Thailand imported 125,300 mt of galvanized sheet from China in June, accounting for 11% of China's galvanized sheet exports, rising to first place; the Philippines imported 122,100 mt, accounting for 10.8%, dropping to second place; and South Korea imported 104,200 mt, accounting for 9.2%, rising to third place. Imports of galvanized sheet from China by Israel, Thailand, Brazil, Honduras, etc., increased significantly in June, while imports by Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, etc., declined to varying degrees. With these fluctuations, overall galvanized sheet exports in June remained basically flat compared to May.
SMM believes that the change in galvanized sheet exports in June was relatively small MoM for the following reasons:
1. Although tariff disputes have resurfaced, the "rush to export" orders for galvanized sheet have already been fully fulfilled, making it difficult for overall export performance to see significant increases again;
2. The rainy season arrived in Southeast Asia in June, leading to a seasonal low in overall orders. However, with rapid development in Southeast Asian countries in recent years, demand for galvanized sheet has been increasing year by year, and there is still a rigid overseas demand.
Entering July, ferrous metals prices in China have risen rapidly since the latter half of the month, with galvanized sheet prices also increasing. Export orders may be affected to some extent, and anti-dumping waves have resurfaced in countries such as Malaysia. Considering the performance of domestic manufacturers' export orders, it is expected that galvanized sheet exports in July may continue the weak trend seen in June.
