Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Energy Technology (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., where GAC Energy holds a 90% stake, was officially incorporated on July 17, according to Tianyancha, an enterprise information, business data and management personnel query system.

With a registered capital of 30 million yuan, the new company will initially focus on the Chongqing market and gradually expand its footprint across the broader Southwest region.

The new entity aims to build a comprehensive energy supply network encompassing solar power generation, energy storage, charging, battery swapping, and vehicle-to-grid services. It will also engage in product development and manufacturing, equipment sales, and battery recycling. In addition, the company plans to create a digital platform to explore emerging business models such as virtual power plants and energy trading, contributing to the development of an integrated smart energy ecosystem in the region.

Ownership records show the new venture is jointly held by GAC Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of GAC Group, and Chongqing Jiangbei District City Operation Management Group Co., Ltd. This move marks another strategic step in GAC Group's push into the new energy and intelligent vehicle technology domains.

Speaking at the 2025 China Auto Forum, Mr. Feng Xingya, Chairman and General Manager of GAC Group, outlined the company's plan to wage three critical battles—centered on user demand, product value, and service experience—in an effort to reshape the company's future.

Mr. Feng stressed that the auto industry has entered an era of profound transformation and that traditional carmakers must adapt swiftly and decisively. GAC has already begun implementing major reforms, including creating a business-oriented headquarters, integrating its self-owned brands, and introducing an IPD-based product development system—all aimed at boosting operational efficiency and market competitiveness.

At the same time, GAC Group is ramping up investment in its proprietary brands, with plans to launch 22 new vehicle models over the next three years, spanning BEV, PHEV, and REEV platforms. The company has set ambitious targets: by 2027, it aims for self-owned brands to account for over 60% of total group sales, with annual sales of own-brand models exceeding 2 million units.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
