Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Nanjing Litai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. ("Litai New Energy"), an Chinese innovative tech startup specializing in battery fire safety solutions, recently completed an angel round of financing that raised tens of millions yuan, according to a press release issued by the investor, CASSTAR, on July 21 via its WeChat account.

The fresh capital will be used to accelerate the industrialization of its proprietary lithium battery fire suppressants, upgrade core technologies, and expand its market presence, particularly in energy storage and new energy vehicle (NEV) sectors.

As the rapid growth of the NEV industry drives widespread adoption of lithium batteries across energy storage systems, NEVs, and telecom base stations, concerns over thermal runaway and fire incidents have emerged as a major bottleneck for the industry. These incidents pose serious safety risks and hinder the sector's development.

Litai New Energy focuses on tackling these challenges through its independently developed fire suppression agents and intelligent fire protection systems designed specifically for lithium batteries. The company's solution combines a nanoparticle-based flame-retardant cooling film, dispersed radical scavengers, and targeted metal chelators to address multiple technical hurdles in battery fire prevention.

Upon activation, the suppressant rapidly produces dense and fine foam that tightly envelops the affected battery, effectively smothering flames, adsorbing electrolyte and flammable gases, and halting the chain reaction of combustion. Its clean, efficient extinguishing performance and strong re-ignition resistance set it apart from conventional fire agents.

Compared to traditional extinguishers, Litai New Energy's water-based formulation demonstrates superior performance in key areas such as low-temperature tolerance, corrosion resistance, vapor pressure, spray pressure, and extinguishing efficiency. This enhances its adaptability and stability across diverse application scenarios, helping to mitigate battery fire risks more effectively.

Litai New Energy's products are currently targeted at such scenarios as energy storage containers and cabinets, NEV charging and battery-swap stations, telecom base stations, and residential and commercial energy storage systems.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
