Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 21, BYD announced the rollout of its 13 millionth new energy vehicle, a milestone that comes just eight months after reaching the 10-million-unit mark in November 2024.

The landmark vehicle is a YANGWANG U7, a flagship sedan under BYD's premium sub-brand YANGWANG.

Hitting the market on March 27 this year, the YANGWANG U7 is available in four variants priced between 628,000 yuan and 708,000 yuan.

The model features a sleek fastback profile and is offered in four exterior colors: Lunar Silver, Obsidian Black, Fluorite White, and Argyle Purple. Its aerodynamic design incorporates flush door handles, fully enclosed wheels, and an active electric rear wing, contributing to a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.195Cd. The YANGWANG U7 measures 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,517 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm, placing it firmly in the large sedan category.

At the rear, the YANGWANG U7 sports a mult-layered design with a distinctive light bar featuring the brand’s logo in the middle. Its rear bumper includes an aggressive diffuser and an active spoiler, which, combined with complex airflow structures, blend aerodynamic performance with visual impact.

Inside, the YANGWANG U7's cabin embraces a symmetrical design philosophy. It is equipped with a 12.8-inch OLED curved central screen, a dedicated passenger entertainment screen, and the world's first 23.6-inch 4K naked-eye 3D instrument cluster. The system is paired with an AR-HUD offering a 10-meter projection distance and seamless integration of navigation with real-world visuals at a precision of under 0.1 degrees. The voice assistant supports lip-reading and multimodal emotional interaction, with response delays under 300 milliseconds and a 97% dialect recognition rate.

In terms of the ADAS capabilities, the YANGWANG U7 features BYD's DiPilot 600 system with triple LiDAR sensors and 32 perception modules, powered by dual NVIDIA Orin X chips delivering a combined 508 TOPS of computing power, enabling advanced L2+ driver assistance capabilities.

The BEV (battery electric vehicle) version of the YANGWANG U7 is powered by a 135.5kWh high-performance Blade Battery exclusive to the YANGWANG brand, delivering a CLTC range of 720 kilometers. The PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) variant with a 52.4kWh battery pack offers a combined range of up to 1,000 kilometers.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
