It marks a new phase in the development of XPENG's nationwide charging network.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 15, Guangzhou XPENG Smart Charging Technology Co., Ltd., which is affiliated to Chinese smart electric vehicle (EV) maker XPENG, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hubei Changtou Smart Parking Co., Ltd. ("Hubei Changtou", "Changtou" is Chinese Pinyin), a subsidiary of Hubei Yangtze River Industrial Carrier Operation and Management Co., Ltd. (Yangtze River Operation), according to a post on XPENG's WeChat account. It marks a new phase in the development of XPENG's nationwide charging network.

As a pioneer in the intelligent EV sector, XPENG has long prioritized the construction of a robust charging ecosystem. Through its open and collaborative approach, XPENG Charging actively partners with automakers, energy companies, property developers, and real estate groups to accelerate the rollout of city-scale charging networks.

As of July 1, 2025, XPENG's charging network spans over 420 cities across China, comprising more than 2,300 charging stations and over 12,600 charging piles, making it one of the most extensive EV charging infrastructure network in the country.

The newly signed agreement signals XPENG Charging's transition into a new phase focused on regional deepening and ecosystem integration. The partnership will enhance XPENG's presence in key scenarios across Central China while pioneering an innovative model of collaboration between private EV companies and state-owned infrastructure platforms.

Under the agreement, the two parties will deepen cooperation across three key areas: co-developing an intelligent charging network to accelerate the deployment of an ultra-fast "county-to-county" charging grid in Hubei; advancing innovation in the energy ecosystem through technologies such as energy storage, virtual power plants, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration; and strengthening industrial collaboration to foster further supply chain synergy. By leveraging XPENG's technological strengths in smart charging and Changtou's expertise in urban digital infrastructure, the two sides aim to establish a national benchmark in new energy infrastructure—dubbed the "Hubei Model"—to support the province's role as a leader in China's evolving development landscape.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
