NVIDIA's H20 chip supply to China is restricted

According to a report by The Information on Saturday, Nvidia has informed its Chinese customers that the supply of its H20 chips is limited and that it does not intend to restart production. Under US export restrictions, the H20 chip is the most powerful AI chip approved for sale to China. The report cited two sources familiar with the matter as saying that the US government's sales ban on H20 chips in April forced Nvidia to cancel customer orders and cancel the manufacturing capacity it had reserved at TSMC for producing the chips.
