TSMC Faces Tight Supply and Expansion Challenges in 2-Nanometer Mass Production

TSMC's 2-nanometer production is set to commence as scheduled in the second half of this year (H2). Industry sources have reported that due to the exceptionally strong demand from Apple, Intel, and other first-wave major customers for 2-nanometer technology, coupled with Qualcomm, MediaTek, and NVIDIA also adopting it sequentially, TSMC's 2-nanometer supply is severely constrained. As a result, TSMC plans to significantly expand its production capacity, aiming to increase the monthly capacity of 2-nanometer technology from 40,000 wafers at the end of this year to 1.5 times that amount, reaching 100,000 wafers next year. It is expected to double again to 200,000 wafers by 2027.
