This week's recycling industry events.
【A 200,000-ton-per-year lithium iron phosphate cathode material project has arrived in Gansu.】 The project, owned by Gansu Jinlin Lithium Battery New Material Co., Ltd., is expected to commission the production line in August and commence production by the end of this year or early 2026. The total investment for the project is 3 billion yuan, to be constructed in two phases, each with a designed annual capacity of 100,000 tons. The expected construction site is in Lanzhou New Area, Gansu Province.
【A new breakthrough has been achieved in the 10,000-ton-per-year lithium hexafluorophosphate technical improvement project. 】Recently, the 10Kt/a lithium hexafluorophosphate technical upgrade project, contracted by China National Chemical Engineering Donghua Guizhou Engineering Co., Ltd. for Guizhou Phosphate Chemical Kaitai Technology Co., Ltd., successfully passed mechanical completion acceptance, marking the completion of all installation and commissioning work.
【On the 4th, the construction of Rongbai Technology's (688005) 6,000-ton sodium-ion polyanionic cathode material project officially commenced at its Xiantao base. 】This project is a strategically focused new energy industry initiative for Rongbai Technology. Upon completion, it will become the most advanced cathode material production line in China's sodium-ion battery field, with key indicators such as product energy density and cycle life reaching internationally leading levels, and production efficiency expected to increase by over 20%.
【A 50,000-ton lithium battery recycling project is nearing operation.】 Recently, the People's Government of Gucheng County, Xiangyang City, Hubei Province, published a joint acceptance announcement on its website for Luotuo Group Resources Recycling Xiangyang Co., Ltd.'s annual processing capacity of 50,000 tons of power lithium battery resource recycling and comprehensive utilization project (including leaching workshop, extraction workshop, storage tank area, discharge room, MVR workshop, etc.). The total investment of the project reaches 5 billion yuan. The first phase started construction in August 2021 and has now been completed and put into operation, with a production line capable of processing 2,000 tons of used batteries annually and producing 80 tons of ternary precursor.
【The environmental impact report for a 200,000-ton-per-year lithium battery material comprehensive recycling phase II technical renovation project has been accepted for public notice. 】Recently, the Chizhou Ecological Environment Bureau in Anhui Province accepted the environmental impact statement for public notice for Anhui Xien Cycle Technology Co., Ltd.'s 200,000 t/a lithium battery material comprehensive recycling phase II technical renovation project. After the production line upgrade, the dismantling capacity of ternary batteries in phase II is reduced from the original 80,000 t/a to 40,000 t/a. The shortfall will be supplemented by purchasing externally sourced crude nickel hydroxide, crude lithium carbonate, and used lithium iron phosphate black powder. The product plan is 20,000 t/a of ternary precursor and 10,000 t/a of lithium carbonate, consistent with the capacity before the renovation. To ensure ternary precursor product quality, industrial-grade manganese sulfate and cobalt sulfate are supplemented. After the renovation, the phase II product capacity remains at 20,000 t/a ternary precursor and 10,000 t/a lithium carbonate, unchanged from before the renovation.
【The 20,000-ton-per-year lithium carbonate project has successfully completed trial production.】Recently, the Qinghai Huixin 20,000-ton-per-year lithium carbonate project, owned by China Salt Lake, successfully completed its first feed trial run, smoothly producing qualified products. June 2025 became the key output period for the project: following the successful water flow in the brine transportation and discharge system on June 2nd, feed trial commenced smoothly on June 10th, and the first batch of products officially rolled off the line on June 17th. This marks the full commissioning of the salt lake development project with a total investment of 2.29 billion yuan, 13 days ahead of schedule.
