SK On, a battery manufacturer under South Korea's SK Group, announced on July 17 that it had signed a lithium hydroxide supply contract with EcoPro Innovation, a South Korean metal refining enterprise. It plans to purchase up to 6,000 mt of domestically produced lithium hydroxide in South Korea by the end of this year, which can meet the battery production needs of approximately 100,000 EVs. These materials will be processed at cathode material factories in South Korea and then exported to SK On's battery manufacturing base in the US. The two companies also plan to sign an additional multi-year supply agreement covering the next two to three years within this year.
