[Baltic Dry Index Hits One-Month High]
The Baltic Dry Index hit a one-month high as Capesize ship freight rates rose. The Baltic Dry Index rose by 40 points, or 2.1%, to 1,906 points, marking a new high since June 17. The Capesize Ship Index rose by 109 points, or 4.3%, to 2,642 points.
The daily average earnings of Capesize ships increased by $905 to $21,908. The Panamax Ship Index fell by 23 points, or 1.2%, to 1,967 points, ending a nine-trading-day upward trend. The daily average earnings of Panamax ships decreased by $214 to $17,700. The Supramax Bulk Carrier Index rose by 28 points, or 2.2%, to 1,315 points.
