Recently, the construction of a 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh grid-side grid-forming ESS power station project with a total investment of RMB 2.5 billion officially commenced in Arong Banner. This is the only standalone ESS project in Hulunbuir City and also a key project for Arong Banner to build a national important energy and strategic resource base. It is reported that the project will have a shared ESS capacity of 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh, with LFP as the energy storage form. Based on the project capacity and the surrounding power grid conditions, a new 500 kV step-up substation will be built for the shared ESS power station. In addition, as the only standalone ESS project in Hulunbuir City, this project will be connected to the 500 kV Arong Banner substation at the main grid node. Leveraging its core location advantage, it will effectively support the regulation of the eastern Inner Mongolia power grid.
