Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In the first half (H1) of 2025, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group ("Geely Holding") reported total vehicle sales of 1,931,698 units, representing a 30% year-on-year jump. New energy vehicle (NEV) sales reached a record 1,001,496 units, marking a 73% surge over a year earlier and bringing the NEV penetration rate to 52%.

In the second quarter (Q2) alone, Geely Holding sold 985,105 vehicles, up 29% from a year earlier, with NEV sales hitting 538,124 units—a year-on-year surge of 65%—and achieving a 55% NEV penetration rate. This marks the third consecutive quarter that the group's total quarterly sales have exceeded 900,000 units.

During H1 2025, Geely Holding completed a strategic restructuring of its automotive brands, forming a dual-business structure consisting of Geely Auto Group and Zeekr Group. Geely Auto Group consolidates Geely, RADAR, and LEVC, targeting the mainstream market, while Zeekr Group combines the Lynk & Co and Zeekr brands—positioning Lynk & Co to broaden its reach and Zeekr to advance further into the premium NEV segment.

Under this realignment, the group's overall vehicle business has seen significant performance gains. Geely Automobile Holdings Limited reported sales of 1,409,180 units in H1, surging 47% year-on-year. Its NEV sales across the Geely, Lynk & Co, and Zeekr brands totaled 725,151 units, up 126% over the previous year. Buoyed by this momentum, Geely Automobile has raised its full-year sales target from 2.71 million to 3 million units.

By brand, Geely Galaxy sold 548,408 vehicles in H1—an impressive 232% year-on-year spike—surpassing the halfway mark toward its annual target of one million units. Lynk & Co posted sales of 154,137 units, up 22% from a year earlier, while Zeekr recorded 90,740 units. In the internal combustion engine vehicle segment, Geely's flagship "Star" series achieved cumulative sales of 615,895 units.

Internationally, Geely Automobile exported 184,114 vehicles in H1, with notable gains in product localization and distribution networks.

Volvo Cars, also under Geely Holding, sold 353,780 vehicles globally in H1, including 155,019 NEVs, resulting in a 44% NEV penetration rate. In China, it sold 13,569 units in June, bringing its Chinese Mainland sales total to 70,298 units year-to-date.

Polestar sold 30,319 vehicles in H1, a 51% hike year-on-year, and entered the French market. Its charging network, Polestar Charge, is now among the largest public charging networks in Europe.

Geely's commercial vehicle arm, Farizon, also saw strong growth, with H1 sales reaching 64,443 units—a 55% soar compared to the same period last year.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
