This week (July 4 - July 10), the operating rate of copper wire and cable enterprises tracked by SMM was 71.52%, up 3.7 percentage points MoM and down 11.69 percentage points YoY, exceeding expectations by 3.91 percentage points. This was related to the short-term boost in downstream orders driven by the price pullback during the week, but it represented a phased demand release, with the overall environment remaining weak. By sector, most areas experienced mediocre performance during the off-season, with only a partial recovery in power grid and new energy power orders driven by the copper price pullback at the end of the week, supporting the operating rate.
