Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On the evening of July 9, Xiaomi EV announced a major milestone in enhancing its electric vehicle charging network. By partnering with 23 third-party providers, the company has now integrated access to more than 1.4 million public charging piles nationwide, all of which can be activated via the Xiaomi EV app. Of these, 160,000 support plug-and-charge functionality, offering users a significantly more convenient charging experience.
As of now, Xiaomi's charging infrastructure spans 2,743 counties and districts across the Chinese Mainland and covers 6,856 highway service area stations. The company also revealed that its SU7 model has achieved a compatibility success rate of over 99% across third-party charging networks.
This latest update follows Xiaomi's earlier announcement on April 28, when it reported partnerships with 18 top-tier charging network operators, granting its users access to 1.26 million chargers. At that time, the coverage extended to 2,691 counties and included 94,000 high-power superchargers and 970,000 DC fast chargers.
In addition to these operator collaborations, Xiaomi has also joined forces with fellow EV makers NIO, XPENG, and Li Auto. Through these tie-ups, more than 14,000 NIO, 9,000 XPENG, and 6,000 Li Auto charging piles have been added to the Xiaomi charging map. While all three brands support real-time charger data integration, user access differs: only selected Li Auto chargers support Xiaomi app scanning, whereas XPENG chargers are compatible with plug-and-charge services.
Although Xiaomi is gradually building its own supercharging network, large-scale rollout is not yet on the agenda. In March 2024, Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun announced the deployment of the company's first 600kW liquid-cooled superchargers in key cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. However, by August, Mr. Lei clarified that while a number of charging stations had been established, widespread construction was not currently planned, citing the sufficiency of public infrastructure.
Alongside public charging, Xiaomi also offers home chargers that support plug-and-charge functionality and OTA upgrades.
