According to a report from Mining.com, Canadian miner Aya Gold & Silver encountered 9 meters of ore in drilling at its Boumadine project in Morocco, with a silver grade of 80 g/t, and announced the discovery of a new high-grade gold-copper ore zone at the surface.
On Monday, Aya stated in a declaration that the BOU-DD25-547 hole, deployed in the Tizi ore zone, encountered ore at a depth of 117 meters, with a gold grade of 42 g/t, zinc content of 3.6%, lead content of 1.8%, and copper content of 0.04%.
Another hole, BOU-MP25-028, encountered over 4.3 meters of ore at a depth of 392 meters, with a gold grade of 3.27 g/t, silver grade of 19 g/t, zinc content of 0.3%, lead content of 0.1%, and copper content of 0.1%.
Aya stated that the latest drilling results extended the Imariren ore zone of the project by 1 kilometer along strike. The Imariren and Tizi ore zones remain uncontrolled in all directions.
"Boumadine continues to demonstrate its significant potential as a large-scale, high-grade deposit, with the ore body uncontrolled in all directions, increasing the likelihood of further resource expansion," noted Ovais Habib, a mining analyst at Scotia Capital.
"Its growth validates our view on the strategic significance of the project and its potential to become a major project."
Resource Update
The results from Monday come approximately four months after the company increased the indicated resources of the project by 160% and the inferred resources by 24% in 2024.
Currently, the project has indicated ore resources of 5.2 million mt, with a silver grade of 91 g/t, gold grade of 2.78 g/t, zinc content of 2.8%, and lead content of 0.85%.
The newly discovered high-grade gold-copper ore zone is located west of the main Boumadine ore body. This ore body, named Asirem, extends the ore belt length by over 9 kilometers.
Aya stated that grab sample analysis showed a gold grade of 3.34 g/t and copper content of 4%.
Exploration and Development
The company plans to complete 140,000 meters of drilling at Boumadine, having already completed 79,732 meters this year. In 2025, the company has allocated CAD 25 million to 30 million for exploration and development.
The company hopes to release a preliminary economic assessment report next year.
