On July 9, NIO announced the launch of its 1,000th highway battery swap station in China, located at the Fushan Service Area on the G5011 Wuhu–Hefei Expressway.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 9, NIO announced the launch of its 1,000th highway battery swap station in China, located at the Fushan Service Area on the G5011 Wuhu–Hefei Expressway.

The automaker said NIO Power had already completed the construction of a nationwide battery swap network across major intercity expressways, connecting 550 cities and significantly easing long-distance energy replenishment concerns for both NIO and ONVO brands' users.

As of July 9, NIO has deployed a total of 3,399 battery swap stations across China, including 1,000 on highways. Its charging infrastructure now includes 4,659 charging stations and 26,701 NIO-operated chargers, while also integrating access to over 129,600 third-party charging piles.

This achievement builds on the "Power UP 2024" initiative unveiled last August, in which NIO committed to extending its battery swap and charging network to cover every county in China. The company aims to achieve full coverage of 2,300+ county-level administrative divisions across 27 provincial-level regions by December 31, 2025, and expand to 2,800+ counties starting in 2026.

In parallel with its infrastructure expansion, NIO has been actively forging alliances with other automotive brands to build an open and interoperable energy ecosystem. It has already established charging network interoperability with Zeekr, Xiaomi EV, AVATR, Chery, Dongfeng Motor's MHERO, Harmony lntelligent Mobility Alliance, Hongqi, DEEPAL, AION, IM Motors, Lotus Cars, Cadillac, Buick, XPENG, and others.

In May this year, NIO Power and Zeekr signed a mutual charging network cooperation agreement, enabling users of NIO, ONVO, and FIREFLY vehicles to access Zeekr's charging stations via in-car navigation, mobile apps, or the NIO Power app for a more seamless charging experience.

On April 9, Wuhan NIO Energy Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Jining Hi-Tech Holding Group in Jining city, Shandong province.

Under the agreement, the two sides planned to jointly construct 50 NIO Power Swap stations across Shandong province as part of a broader push to expand new energy vehicle infrastructure in the region.
