On July 4, 2025, Guangzhou Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Company (Guangzhou Farizon) was officially inaugurated.

Beijing (Gasgoo) –On July 4, 2025, Guangzhou Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Company (Guangzhou Farizon) was officially inaugurated, marking the rollout and delivery of its first batch of vehicles, according to a post on the WeChat account of Farizon, the commercial vehicle arm of Geely Holding.

Guangzhou serves as a strategic foothold for Farizon's expansion into South China. In August 2024, Farizon signed a cooperation agreement with the Baiyun District Government to jointly accelerate the full electrification of public sector fleets — including buses, taxis, sanitation vehicles, postal trucks, urban logistics vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks for specialized scenarios.

The establishment of Guangzhou Farizon and the delivery of its first vehicles mark a first step in this strategic partnership. During the inauguration event, Guangzhou Farizon also signed agreements with three logistics companies to jointly promote the transition toward green logistics.

In recent years, Guangzhou has actively pursued its vision of becoming a "green and smart transportation demonstration city." It has introduced a series of policies to accelerate the adoption of new energy commercial vehicles in logistics and public transit sectors. At the same time, the city is positioning hydrogen energy as a key element of its new energy industrial chain.

The city's two-pronged approach to developing both battery electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles aligns closely with Farizon's strategic direction. Methanol, a globally recognized clean energy source with strong hydrogen storage capacity — 1 cubic meter of methanol contains 148.3 kg of hydrogen, compared to just 70 kg in 1 cubic meter of liquid hydrogen — is particularly well-suited for transportation applications.

Leveraging its "methanol-hydrogen + electric" technologies and benefiting from supportive local policies, Guangzhou Farizon plans to promote not only battery electric commercial vehicles but also methanol-hydrogen-powered refrigerated trucks, municipal engineering vehicles, and urban delivery trucks. The company also aims to build a local methanol-hydrogen ecosystem encompassing green methanol production and refueling infrastructure.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
