On July 4, NIO launched its Champion Edition lineup to mark the 10th anniversary of its Formula E championship win.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 4, NIO launched its Champion Edition lineup to mark the 10th anniversary of its Formula E championship win. The special-edition models—based on the new ET5, ET5T, and EC6—will be available for upgrades and have begun arriving in stores from July 5.

The Champion Editions of the new ET5 and ET5T start at 316,000 yuan for the standard version and 246,000 yuan with the BaaS (Battery as a Service) rental plan. The new EC6 Champion Edition is priced from 370,000 yuan, or 300,000 yuan with BaaS.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic livery of NIO's championship-winning race car, the Champion Edition vehicles feature bespoke five-spoke wheels, signature Racing Green brake calipers, and exclusive "Champion Edition" badging on the seatbacks, door sills, and rear of the vehicle. All exterior body colors are available for customization.

The interiors are outfitted with sporty styling in gray tones with Racing Green accents, including Alcantara and Microfiber materials for a refined yet dynamic feel. The seats are wrapped in Microfiber with embossed NIO and "Champion Edition 2015" logos on the headrests and upper seat sections, while the roof lining and pillars also feature matching materials. Alcantara is used on the steering wheel to enhance grip and control.

Performance-wise, the Champion Editions of the new ET5 and ET5T benefit from upgraded chassis components. The front anti-roll bar diameter has been increased to 33 mm and the rear to 22 mm, with thicker walls for both, boosting torsional rigidity by 6% and reducing body roll gradient to below 3 deg/g. Custom software tuning further enhances cornering stability and steering responsiveness.

All three Champion Edition models—the new ET5, ET5T, and EC6—all come standard with NIO's CDC (Continuous Damping Control) system, capable of adjusting suspension stiffness 500 times per second to maintain optimal stability. The models are also equipped with the 4D comfort navigation system that anticipates road conditions and pre-adjusts the chassis for a smoother ride. A newly upgraded hydraulic rear subframe bushing, recalibrated EPS (Electric Power Steering), and refined electronic damping software further elevate handling precision.

In addition, the new ET5 and ET5T Champion Editions introduce a new EP Mode, enabling independent 11-stage front and rear damping adjustment for a track-ready driving experience. The mode adapts suspension and cooling settings in real-time through AI and supports five tailored driving scenarios—daily, track, launch, drift, and mountain driving.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
