[SMM PV Express] India's Finance Minister proposed in the 2025 budget to reduce the tariff on solar modules from 40% to 20%, and clarified that starting from February 2025, all newly tendered PV projects must be equipped with an energy storage system with at least 10% of the installed capacity and a 2-hour storage duration. SMM expects this policy to stimulate the expansion of local manufacturing capacity in India and create new incremental markets for ESS enterprises.
