According to the Hainan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, the tropical disturbance in the northeastern part of the South China Sea developed into a tropical depression this morning (the 4th). At 8 a.m., its center was located at 19.2 degrees north latitude and 119.6 degrees east longitude, approximately 500 kilometers north-northeast of Sansha City, Hainan Province (Huangyan Island, Zhongsha Islands). The maximum wind force near the center was of Force 7 (15 meters per second). It is expected that the tropical depression will move westward first at a speed of about 10 kilometers per hour, then turn northeast and head towards the coastal areas of Fujian to Taiwan, gradually intensifying in strength and strengthening into the 4th typhoon of the year within 36 hours.
