[Baltic Dry Index Falls for Seventh Consecutive Day]
On Thursday, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) fell for the seventh consecutive day, pressured by a decline in demand for Capesize vessels. The BDI dropped 9 points, or 0.6%, to 1,434 points, its lowest level since June 3. The Capesize Index slid 64 points, or 3.3%, to 1,894 points, its lowest level since May 28.
The daily average earnings for Capesize vessels fell $537 to $15,705. The Panamax Index rose 15 points, or 1%, to 1,507 points. The daily average earnings for Panamax vessels increased $141 to $13,565. The Supramax Index rose 21 points to 1,052 points, climbing to its highest level in over seven months.
