The Chilean Congress recently passed a comprehensive reform bill aimed at reducing the approval time for mining and energy projects by 30%-70%, in order to boost investment in the world's largest copper producer and the second-largest lithium supplier. The bill was passed with 93 votes in favor, 27 against, and 17 abstentions, and now awaits the President's signature to come into effect.
The Chilean government emphasized that the new regulations would maintain unchanged environmental protection and regulatory standards, while enabling a "one-stop" processing of permit applications through a digital platform (SUPER) to enhance transparency and efficiency.
