[SMM Weekly Review of Recycled Rare Earths: Rare Earth Scrap Prices Remain High, Procurement Volume of Scrap Increases] This week, the market price of scrap continued to remain high and stable, mainly supported by the market price of oxides. As the Pr-Nd products account for the largest proportion in scrap recycling, their price trends have attracted significant market attention. Despite the weak supply and demand for Pr-Nd products, the price of Pr-Nd oxide remained stable, driving the scrap Pr-Nd price to remain high and stable.

July 3 News:

This week, the price of Pr-Nd recycled from NdFeB scrap was reported at 483-488 yuan/kg; the price of dysprosium recycled from NdFeB scrap was reported at 1,610-1,621 yuan/kg; the price of terbium recycled from NdFeB scrap was reported at 5,439-5,495 yuan/kg; the price of gadolinium recycled from NdFeB scrap was reported at 89-110 yuan/kg; the price of holmium recycled from NdFeB scrap was reported at 200-240 yuan/kg.

This week, the scrap market prices continued to remain high and stable, mainly supported by the oxide market prices. As the Pr-Nd product, which accounts for the largest proportion in scrap recycling, its price trend has attracted significant market attention. Amidst weak supply and demand for Pr-Nd products, the price of Pr-Nd oxide remained stable, driving the scrap Pr-Nd prices to remain high and stable. With the gradual rebound in end-use demand, further support was provided for price increases. Some market participants had high expectations for rare earth market prices, magnetic material enterprises held onto their inventory and were reluctant to sell, resulting in a strong wait-and-see sentiment in the market and a decrease in scrap circulation compared to WoW. However, due to the high scrap prices, the procurement volume of scrap by recycling enterprises increased. It is expected that in the short term, the scrap market prices will continue to remain stable.

US Negotiates Heavy Rare Earth Processing with Brazil to Strengthen Critical Mineral Supply Chain
US Assistant Secretary of State Caleb Orr stated that the US is actively negotiating with Brazil to develop critical mineral processing capabilities, with a focus on heavy rare earths. Orr said Brazil is an "important" partner in building a resilient Western supply chain. The US has invested in Brazil's Serra Verde and Aclara rare earth projects through the DFC to produce mixed rare earth carbonate containing dysprosium and terbium for use in permanent magnetic materials. Brazil holds the world's second-largest rare earth reserves but lacks processing capacity. Brazilian President Lula emphasized that foreign companies must invest in downstream facilities to achieve an end-to-end value chain.
