US rare earth developer Ramaco Resources will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Brook Mine Carbon Ore rare earth project on July 11. The Brook deposit contains 40% rare earth element oxides, including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium, as well as critical minerals such as gallium, scandium, and germanium. It is estimated that the deposit's reserves of rare earth elements and critical minerals range from 1.3 million to 1.7 million mt. The project is expected to commence production in 2027, with two years of optimization work to achieve fully stable operations. Ramaco stated that, unlike MP Materials' Mountain Pass mine, the Brook mine is a sedimentary deposit with a relatively high content of elements such as dysprosium, gadolinium, and terbium.
