[BDI Hits Near One-Month Low]
On Tuesday, the Baltic Dry Index (BDI) fell for the fifth consecutive trading day, approaching a one-month low, due to a decline in demand for Capesize vessels. The BDI dropped by 31 points, or 2.1%, to 1,458 points, marking its lowest level since June 3.
The Capesize Index fell by 100 points, or 4.7%, to 2,011 points, its lowest since May 28. The daily average earnings for Capesize vessels decreased by $833 to $16,677. The Panamax Index remained unchanged at 1,500 points. The daily average earnings for Panamax vessels decreased by $4 to $13,498. The Supramax Index rose by 6 points to 1,018 points.
