SANY Silicon Energy's 2GW PV Module Base Goes into Operation

Published: Jul 1, 2025 18:18
On June 27th, the SANY Silicon Energy 2GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon PV Module Production Site located in Nanjiang County officially commenced operations. To enhance the power of the modules, the project adopted a combination of the most cutting-edge edge passivation technology, rapid water cooling technology, and half-cut cell technology in the industry, resulting in an 8-10W increase in module power. The application of double-glass lamination technology has upgraded the modules from single-glass to double-glass, effectively isolating moisture penetration and extending the module lifespan from 25 years to 30 years.

On June 27, the SANY Silicon Energy 2GW High-Efficiency Crystalline Silicon PV Module Production Site in Nanjiang County officially commenced operations.

To enhance module power, the project adopted a combination of the most advanced edge passivation technology, rapid water cooling technology, and half-cut cell technology in the industry, increasing module power by 8-10W. The application of double-glass lamination technology upgraded the modules from single-glass to double-glass, effectively isolating moisture penetration and extending the module lifespan from 25 years to 30 years.

According to the project plan, the first phase of the site mainly produces 2GW high-efficiency crystalline silicon PV modules, including various cell types corresponding to conventional formats such as 182, 183.75, 210N, 210R, as well as the unique 191.6 horizontal format. This alone can achieve an annual output value of 1.6 billion yuan.

The project will also proceed with a second phase of construction, focusing on centralized PV power generation, distributed PV power generation, centralized wind power, the construction of ESS power stations, smart microgrid systems, and green electricity trading centers. After becoming operational, it is expected to generate an annual output value of approximately 670 million yuan and annual tax revenue of 130 million yuan.

China Approves 17.44 GW Power Plan for Qaidam Desert Base, Including Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage Projects
It is understood that the National Energy Administration has officially approved the power source allocation plan for the "Qaidam Desert Base (East Golmud) Base". The planned construction scale of the power source projects at this base is 17.44 million kilowatts, including 10 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 5 million kilowatts of wind power, 2.64 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, 0.1 million kilowatts of solar thermal power, and 1.5 million kilowatts (for 4 hours) of electrochemical energy storage. The total investment in the projects is about 86 billion yuan. The new energy will be transmitted to Guangxi through the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" UHV power transmission project. Currently, significant progress has been made in the preliminary work of the "Qinghai-Guangxi DC" project, w

[SMM PV News] Armenia Hits 1.1 GW Solar Capacity,
Armenia’s cumulative solar capacity has surged to 1.1 GW following the addition of approximately 615 MW in 2025. This rapid expansion has pushed solar's share of electricity generation to around 15%, effectively meeting the country's 2030 target years ahead of schedule. The growth is heavily driven by a net-metering scheme supporting over 50,000 autonomous producers (totaling 650 MW), though the government ended loan subsidies for rooftop solar in July to shift focus toward battery storage.
