This marks CATL's first facility in the city and its first deployment of a factory-in-factory collaborative model, supplying locally manufactured power battery systems for the AITO vehicle lineup.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 30, CATL officially commenced production on two high-end CTP 2.0 battery pack lines at the SERES Super Factory in Chongqing, according to a post on CATL's WeChat account. This marks CATL's first facility in the city and its first deployment of a "factory-in-factory" collaborative model, supplying locally manufactured power battery systems for the AITO vehicle lineup.

"This newly launched line represents CATL's most advanced intelligent and digital production capabilities," said Robin Zeng, founder and chairman of CATL. "It not only marks the beginning of CATL's localized manufacturing in Chongqing but also ushers in a new chapter in our partnership with AITO."

Zhang Xinghai, chairman of SERES Group, emphasized the significance of the milestone, noting, "The production of these high-end batteries, designed and produced exclusively by CATL for the AITO series vehicle, is a landmark moment. It's a perfect pairing—premium intelligent EVs matched with premium batteries."

Since its inception, AITO, one of China's leading new premium auto brands, has exclusively used CATL's batteries across its product range, with over 700,000 vehicles now on the road. The new production lines under the factory-in-factory model will help AITO ramp up manufacturing efficiency and delivery speed, effectively shortening customer wait times.

CATL's involvement extends beyond battery supply. Leveraging its expertise as a zero-carbon technology company, CATL is working with SERES to build a comprehensive "green automotive value chain" and strengthen the global profile of zero-carbon intelligent manufacturing.

In April this year, the two companies completed and connected a 50MW distributed solar power project at the SERES Super Factory, supplying essential green energy to the factory.

Looking ahead, CATL and SERES will deepen their long-term partnership, advancing collaboration in new product development, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative materials, with a shared commitment to driving green, low-carbon transformation across the entire automotive value chain.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
