According to foreign media reports, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is negotiating the mining rights of the Rubaya niobium-tantalum ore mine with a consortium led by Gentry Beach, an aide to Trump.
Beach, the chairman of the investment firm America First Global and a former co-chair of Trump's campaign finance, along with Swiss trader Mercuria, intends to secure the mining rights of Rubaya to compensate for the US's efforts to support peace in the eastern part of the country.
The investment in this project may exceed US$500 million, and its production will be legally transported through Rwanda, with plans to build a smelter in Kigali.
