The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is currently negotiating the mining rights of the Rubaya niobium-tantalum ore mine with a consortium led by Gentry Beach, an assistant to Trump. Beach is the chairman of the investment firm America First Global and previously served as the co-chair of Trump's campaign finance. Along with the Swiss trader Mercuria, he intends to secure the mining rights of Rubaya to compensate for the US's efforts to support peace in the eastern part of the country. The investment in this project may exceed $500 million, and its production will be legally transported through Rwanda, with plans to build a smelter in Kigali.
