According to CCTV News, recent data released by the UK's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showed that the total car production in the UK in May fell sharply by 32.8% YoY to 49,810 units. In the first five months of this year, the cumulative total car production in the UK was approximately 348,200 units, a 12.9% YoY decrease, marking the lowest level for the same period since 1953. The SMMT believes that the main reasons for the current decline in UK car production include intensified trade barriers, prolonged car model replacement processes, and persistently high energy costs.
