Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) have signed an agreement to jointly explore the potential for developing Ghana's bauxite resources. Ghana boasts bauxite reserves exceeding 900 million mt, encompassing large, medium, and small-scale deposits. Currently, Ghana's annual production stands at approximately 1.5 million mt, with high-quality resources supporting capacity expansion. Bauxite is the core raw material for producing metallic aluminum. Under the agreement, EGA and GIADEC will explore establishing long-term bauxite offtake agreements and collaborate in railway and port infrastructure to expand production scale. Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, stated that this collaboration aligns with the company's strategic goals of expanding metallic aluminum production and diversifying upstream supply. In addition to advancing the construction of a new primary aluminum production plant in the US, EGA also plans to double its bauxite production in the coming years, exploring multiple opportunities globally, with Ghana being a crucial part of this strategy.
