China’s Sunrev Solar has begun construction on a USD 200 million solar manufacturing complex in Ain Sokhna, Egypt, spanning 200,000 square meters. The project will be developed in two phases to enhance local photovoltaic production, according to SCZONE.

Phase one, worth USD 90 million, will build two fully integrated factories with annual capacities of 2 GW each for solar cells and modules, with commissioning expected in H1 2026. Phase two involves an additional USD 110 million to localise raw material production, including silicon ingots and wafers, and expand cell and module output.

The complex aims to support exports to regional and global markets, targeting annual revenues of USD 300 million. This follows a similar 2-GW facility started in late 2024 by China’s Elite Solar, also located in the SCZONE.
