UK-based Genesis Energy Holding and Saudi Arabia’s Desert Technologies (D-T) have signed a strategic collaboration agreement during the Africa Energy Forum to jointly develop and deploy clean energy solutions across Africa. This follows a memorandum of understanding signed earlier this year in Dubai.
Under the agreement, Genesis will serve as D-T’s preferred partner for distributing and implementing solar PV and battery storage systems in Africa, with a focus on mini-grid and utility-scale projects.
The partnership will combine D-T’s Sahara product—a rapidly deployable, containerised solar power system—and its mini-grid expertise with Genesis’ experience in clean energy infrastructure. Genesis currently has a pipeline of over 4.5 GW, with 458 MW in operation or under development. The two firms will also explore joint ventures and financing options, including Saudi export credit facilities.
