Shanghai (Gasgoo)- CEVA Logistics Greater China has partnered with Chinese heavy-duty electric truck company Windrose Technology to conduct a joint feasibility study on long-haul electric truck operations in China, according to a press release CEVA Logistics issued on June 25 via its WeChat account.
The collaboration has already yielded several successful pilot tests using electric trucks for long-haul routes, including round-trip trials from China's Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area to Guangxi's Pingxiang on the China–Vietnam border, as well as a 5,000-kilometer one-way journey from Shenzhen to Alashankou on the China–Kazakhstan border. Based on the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) framework and calculated using a well-to-wheels (WTW) methodology, the results showed that electric trucking reduced carbon emissions by an average of 55% compared to conventional diesel-based transport.
Building on these results, CEVA Logistics and Windrose Technology plan to expand testing across more routes and operational scenarios in China to evaluate feasibility, cost-efficiency, and performance under varying conditions. As part of its strategic roadmap, CEVA Logistics also aims to leverage the TIR network to establish electric freight connectivity across Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and potentially Europe.
This initiative aligns closely with the CMA CGM Group's global goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. CEVA Logistics is actively scaling its low-emission vehicle fleet, with plans to deploy 1,450 low-carbon vehicles in its ground operations by 2025, including more than 650 electric trucks globally. The company remains committed to investing in and developing sustainable logistics solutions to strengthen its leadership in the sector.
