Great Wall Motor (GWM) officially put the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T, further expanding its high-end pickup portfolio.

Beijing (Gasgoo) –On June 23, Great Wall Motor (GWM) officially put the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T, its fire new plug-in hybrid electric pickup model, onto the market, further expanding its high-end pickup portfolio.

The new Shanhai Poer Hi4-T is available in two variants: the Global Edition and the Performance Edition. The Performance Edition is priced at 249,800 yuan, while the Global Edition is priced at 228,800 yuan. In addition, GWM unveiled the Shanhai Poer 2.4T Global Edition with a suggested retail price of 193,800 yuan, offering multiple promotional incentives for buyers, including trade-in bonuses.

Built on the TANK platform's Hi4-T super hybrid architecture, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T integrates the multi-purpose capabilities of a pickup with cutting-edge new energy technology. It boasts sustained power output, precision energy management, and a reliable, non-decoupling mechanical four-wheel-drive system, delivering what GWM calls a "true" new energy pickup designed for complex terrains and demanding conditions.

Under the hood, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T features a 2.0T Miller-cycle engine designed specifically for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), paired with a 9HAT transmission and a P2 front-mounted electric motor. This system delivers a combined output of 300 kW and 750 N·m of torque.

The vehicle supports three driving modes—pure electric, hybrid, and intelligent. For short commutes or city driving, users can switch to BEV mode, which is powered by a 37.1kWh battery offering an NEDC-rated battery-powered range of 115 km—enough for a week's commute on just one or two charges. For off-road use, hybrid mode engages both the engine and electric motor for sustained performance. It’s equipped with the BorgWarner 4A+Mlock 4WD system and a mechanical locking structure, along with front and rear differential locks (the front lock is optional), offering full triple-lock capability for conquering rugged terrain.

Further enhancing its off-road prowess, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T includes nine drive modes, tank turn functionality, off-road cruise control, and an off-road information display. On long journeys, intelligent mode delivers impressive fuel efficiency, with a combined consumption of just 1.7L/100 km and a combined range of up to 1,000 km under the NEDC cycle.

As a hybrid pickup, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T supports up to 6kW of external power output, transforming the vehicle into a mobile power station for lighting, cooking, heating, or entertainment. The cargo bed offers a 220V outlet with 2.2kW output, while the large 1500x1520x500mm bed space accommodates extensive gear for long adventures. With a towing capacity of 3.3 tonnes and 24 matrix-style anchor points, four hooks, and four reserved power ports (on the Performance Edition), the truck is highly modifiable for personalized setups.

Structurally, the battery is mounted on the frame, and the vehicle features a minimum ground clearance of over 400 mm with reinforced chassis protection. Its protective plates feature galvanized surfaces, electrophoretic coatings, and anti-scratch layers for enhanced rust and abrasion resistance. The high-energy-density ternary lithium battery offers strong cold-weather performance and has passed rigorous high-temperature, immersion, and compression testing, according to GWM.

For safety, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T includes reinforced anti-collision beams in all doors, the floor, and the roof. The high-strength cage body structure can withstand 4.2 times the vehicle's weight. Standard features include a collapsible energy-absorbing steering column, automatic fuel shut-off, and door unlocking in the event of a collision, maximizing passenger protection.

Inside, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T features a 14.6-inch full-touch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, supported by connectivity features including voice command and remote vehicle control. Sound insulation is enhanced through a dual rear-wall design, labyrinth-style air vents, sealed tailgate structure, and an aerodynamic rear spoiler. The rear seats offer electric recline adjustment up to 33 degrees, with a spacious 1.6m-wide elbow room, delivering a rear-seat experience comparable to luxury off-roaders.

The Shanhai Poer 2.4T Global Edition debuts with a next-generation 2.4T diesel engine boasting 42.3% thermal efficiency, a peak power of 135 kW, and 480 N·m of torque, available from just 1,500 rpm. Paired with a 9AT transmission capable of handling up to 750 N·m of torque, the model features a wide gear ratio spread from 5.288 in first gear to 8.843 overall, ensuring robust low-speed off-road performance and high-efficiency cruising.

The 2.4T Global Edition excels in extreme environments. In high-altitude settings, a high-efficiency VGT turbo and optimized intake system enable it to deliver 400 N·m of torque even at 4,700 meters. For high-temperature climates, it’s equipped with an 850W high-performance cooling fan and dedicated thermal management. In cold regions, its 92Ah AGM battery ensures reliable cold starts and stable power delivery.

Visually, the 2.4T Global Edition carries a sportier aesthetic with blacked-out grilles and wheels. It also inherits the Shanhai Poer’s advanced off-road DNA, including the BorgWarner 4A+Mlock system with electronic front and rear differential locks (front lock optional), triple-lock capability, and a suite of nine driving modes and intelligent off-road features. It also offers smart connectivity, ADAS, and enhanced NVH performance through the same dual rear-wall and soundproofing design as the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T.

Notably, the Shanhai Poer Hi4-T went on sale in Australia in May this year. The model will soon be launched in other international markets including Thailand and Mexico.

With the arrival of the Hi4-T, the Shanhai Poer lineup now includes Hi4-T super hybrid, 3.0T gasoline, and 2.4T diesel variants—creating a comprehensive powertrain portfolio to meet the diverse needs of global consumers.
