[CAAC Issues Emergency Notice: Prohibiting Passengers from Carrying Recalled Power Banks on Domestic Flights] On June 26, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued an emergency notice stating that starting from June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks without 3C certification, with unclear 3C certification, or of recalled models or batches on domestic flights. The notice mentioned that since the beginning of this year, there have been multiple incidents of lithium battery products, such as power banks, catching fire or emitting smoke on aircraft. Recently, several leading power bank manufacturers have recalled multiple batches of products due to safety risks associated with their battery cells. The State Administration for Market Regulation has revoked or suspended the 3C certification of several power bank and battery cell manufacturers. The aforementioned situations indicate that there are safety and quality hazards in the power banks carried by passengers, posing an increasing risk to the safe operation of civil aviation. In response, the CAAC has decided to further implement strict control measures based on the existing policies, in accordance with the internationally recognized Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air.
