Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 25, 2025, GAC Business (a subsidiary of GAC Group) officially inaugurated its Thailand sales outlet alongside UPOWER ENERGY's battery service center in Bangkok's central business district, according to a post on UPOWER ENERGY's WeChat account.
The dual launch marks a strategic milestone in GAC's global "One GAC 2.0" initiative, underscoring its commitment to providing integrated vehicle and energy solutions in Southeast Asia.
As the first overseas self-operated battery service facility by UPOWER ENERGY, the Thailand center reflects GAC Group's broader ambition to localize and deepen its presence in key global markets. The facility will offer comprehensive battery diagnostics and repair services, co-located with the new GAC Business sales outlet to deliver a seamless, full-lifecycle customer experience—from vehicle purchase to aftersales energy support.
Thailand, recognized as a pivotal hub in the Southeast Asian market, has seen rapid growth in new energy vehicles (NEVs) in recent years. At the opening ceremony, Wang Ke, general manager of UPOWE ENERGY, emphasized the company's role as the core entity of GAC's energy and ecosystem business.
UPOWER ENERGY has already secured significant regulatory backing, having received the first-ever EV battery repair service license issued by Thailand Board of Investment (BOI). It remains the only enterprise in the country's NEV ecosystem to hold three BOI licenses, covering EV battery repair, charging equipment import and installation, and EV charging station investment and operations.
The Bangkok battery service center by UPOWER ENERGY stands out as the only site in Thailand capable of conducting multi-level repairs—ranging from battery packs and modules to individual cells. Equipped with GAC's proprietary CTP disassembly technology, the center ensures safe, reliable aftersales support for automakers and battery manufacturers alike.
On the infrastructure front, UPOWER ENERGY has already built 27 charging stations in Thailand and aims to establish a network of 200 stations with 1,000 high-power chargers by 2027. This will provide robust support for NEV adoption, creating a complete value chain from charging infrastructure to battery maintenance and reinforcing GAC's sustainable mobility strategy in the region.
